DESIGN
The Pre-Q5 started it’s life as a solid state version of our EQP-1A, and developed into the first 500 series preamp of its kind to feature passive EQ. By adding another of our discrete op-amps and a custom input transformer, we turned a smooth equaliser into a beast with 65dB of gain and a hugely variable range of character. This preamp allows you to make creative decisions to suit whatever it is you’re tracking. Wish that vocal had a little more body and an airy top end? No problem. Need a drum sound that works those transformers hard, but still have a useable output level? Can do.
FEATURES
- Up to 65dB of gain in 5dB steps.
- Switchable line level input for use as a standalone equaliser and ‘colour box’.
- A stepped attenuator for repeatable matching, and allowing saturation of the transformer.

- Custom input and output transformer.
- Two of our own discrete op-amps.
